Chicago, Kansas City and Gulf Highway

― from Touring Topics, December 1914, page 15.

The completion of the Canada* [sic, Chicago], Kansas City and Gulf Highway in Missouri provides a northern route from Kansas City through Iowa City, Chicago and into New York for California motorists traveling eastward over the Santa Fe Trail. Every mile north of Kansas City into Chicago has been improved. The work has been carried on by the C., K. C. and G. Highway Association, of which Mr. Robert M. Carson of Iowa City, Iowa, is the moving spirit.

* There was an old auto trail from this same period called the Canada-Kansas City-Gulf Road, but that road stretched from Duluth, Minnesota to little Cameron, Louisiana. It did not pass through Iowa City or Chicago. The road intended is the Chicago Kansas City Gulf Highway.
