Last post by ACSC Collector - July 08, 2013, 03:46:11 PMSpeaking about old Butterfield stations along the old Emigrant route, One thing comes to mind is the old San Felipe station. I have been doing some research of this locality and know it is not to be confused with the newer San Felipe few miles further up the canyon. The original station was closer to Scissors Crossing either on or just a bit further NW of the intersection. This place was first settled back in the Mexican era and was well visited as a relief from the Anza Borrego desert. Unlike the more popular stations of Oak Grove, Warner's Ranch and Carrizo, this station seems to have very little written history about it and even more, any physical evidence of it's existence save the old maps that locate it. I do believe some Thomas Guides have it located but the accuracy is quite debatable.

I have most of the cards after #168, however the earlier ones are either scans of cards from the archives or from Touring Topics articles.
Looking at your list, I don't have images of 4A, 13, 14A, 27A, 34, 44, 56, 59, 61, 62, 64, 65, 67, 68, 72, 76, 80, 90, and 91.
I also have a few relatively old cards with no map numbers. The two maps from the series "Stockton to Yosemite via Oakdale and Groveland" (series number 51 and 52) have circles in the corner, but no number in them.

I also would like to visit the old historic ACSC headquarters next door. I think it would be an asset for me since I might be able to locate map numbers of maps in my collection that were later revised without a date code. In fact I have, for example, two exact maps of Pasadena with Ramona Acres printed on one while the other has the modern Monterey Park on the other. All of the roads are printed the same. To I.D. the map dates was to look on the web page on the history of Monterey Park and find out when Ramona Park changed it's name. Thus I was able to get a pretty good estimate on the map date. I also have the same thing on a set of 3 maps of Orange county. One showing the proposed McArthur Blvd. another without and one showing the completed route. I am still trying to find out the history on its construction. Then I could find a more precise date of my maps
